# Swapping DATs

## What is a Swap?

A Swap lets you exchange one footballer's DAT directly for another in a single, seamless action.

Under the hood, a Swap is a sell of your current DAT followed immediately by a buy of your target DAT — combined into one transaction. You never have to handle two separate steps, and you are never left in between positions waiting for the first trade to complete.

Both Free DATs and Standard DATs can be swapped. Free DAT swaps are free of charge; Standard DAT swaps carry a commission (see below).

## Why Swap Instead of Selling and Buying Separately?

Two reasons:

* **Speed.** One action instead of two. You click Swap, choose the player you want, and confirm. Done.
* **Cost.** Swapping costs 1% total — charged on the sell leg only. The buy leg is free. Compare this to selling and buying separately, which costs 1% + 1% = 2% total. A swap halves your commission cost.

## How to Swap

1. Go to your Portfolio or the footballer detail page for the DAT you want to swap out
2. Click **Swap**
3. Select the DAT you want to exchange (the one you are bringing in)
4. Review the Swap summary — you will see both sides of the exchange and the net cost
5. Confirm
6. The whole process completes in a single transaction. Your Portfolio updates instantly — the old DAT is gone, the new one is in.

The quantity of DATs you receive in the buy leg is calculated automatically from the $KIX proceeds of the sell leg. Because fractional DATs are not possible, the quantity is always rounded down — any remaining $KIX returns to your wallet.

## When to Use Swap

Swapping is ideal when you want to rotate your squad quickly — moving out of a player going into a quiet fixture week and into one with a great run of games, or pivoting after an injury update.

Any time you would normally sell one DAT and immediately use those proceeds to buy another, use Swap instead. It is faster, and it is the cheaper option once the discounted swap commission is confirmed at launch.
