How Footballers Are Scored

Every Match. Every Action. Counted.

Every footballer on KiX receives a Performance Score for every match they play. This score is the number that determines who wins Games Hub rewards, who climbs the leaderboard, and whose DAT is worth owning.

The score is built entirely from real match data. Not opinions. Not algorithms estimating what might have happened. Every pass, every tackle, every goal, every foul — the numbers come directly from official match statistics, fed into KiX through a verified, independent data source.

Five Categories Make Up the Total Score

The Performance Score is broken down into five components:

Shooting

Everything related to attacking output and goal threat. Goals, shots on target, shot accuracy, penalty conversions, and even hitting the woodwork — all of it counts. A striker who puts in a clinical performance and scores two goals will see a significant Shooting contribution to their total score.

Passing

The full picture of a player's ability to move the ball and create chances. Completed passes, assists, key passes (passes that directly lead to a shot), long balls, corners taken, and crossing accuracy are all included. A deep-lying midfielder who sprays 90 passes with 87% accuracy while laying on two key passes will rack up a serious Passing score.

Defending

The complete defensive picture — not just tackles. Interceptions, clearances, ball recoveries, blocked shots, last-man tackles (weighted more heavily), and overall defensive accuracy all contribute. A centre-back who dominates aerially, wins every duel, and blocks two shots in the box will be rewarded.

Presence

How involved was the player? Presence captures the raw physicality and engagement of a footballer during a match — minutes played, total touches, duels won, dribble attempts, fouls won, penalties won, and corners won. A box-to-box midfielder who is everywhere on the pitch scores highly here even if their shooting numbers are modest.

Errors

The deductions. Errors are the only category that subtracts from a player's total score. Own goals, red cards, yellow cards, fouls committed, offsides, penalties conceded, and penalties missed all carry negative values. A brilliant game can be dragged down significantly by a red card or a needless penalty conceded.

How Positions Affect the Score

A centre-back who never shoots is not punished for a low Shooting score — in practice, the scoring matrix is position-adjusted so that the weight of each category reflects what each type of player is actually expected to contribute.

A striker's score will be driven largely by Shooting. A defender's score will be driven largely by Defending and Presence. The system rewards players for doing their job well — not for doing a job that was never theirs to do.

Goalkeepers do not have a DAT on KiX and are excluded from the Performance Score system and all DAT pools. See The Bonding Curve — Technical for detail.

Why This Matters

Performance Scores are the single deciding factor for Games Hub rewards. The submitted DATs with the highest Performance Scores at the end of Game Days and Game Groups take the winnings. Understanding what goes into the score — and being able to forecast which players will score highest given a specific set of fixtures — is the core skill that KiX rewards.
