# What is $KIX?

$KIX is the utility token that powers everything on the KiX platform. Think of it as the platform's own currency — the way arcade tokens work in an amusement arcade. To do anything on KiX — buy DATs, enter Games Hub competitions, make Predictions — you use $KIX.

$KIX runs on **Chiliz Chain**, the blockchain built for sports and entertainment.

## $KIX is NOT an Investment

For completeness, and to avoid any ambiguity: **$KIX has NOT been designed as an investment product.**

It is a functional utility token — treat it as such. Its purpose is to be used on the KiX platform. Its value is derived from the demand to use KiX — the more people use the platform, the more $KIX is needed, and the more demand there is for it.

We say this clearly because we want you to understand what you are holding. $KIX is a tool that lets you participate in KiX. It is not an investment product, and nothing in this documentation should be read as financial advice or a promise of returns.

## A Token With Day-One Utility

All KiX users will immediately experience a real use case for $KIX from day one:

* Want to own a footballer's DAT? You need $KIX.
* Want to play Top 3 or Teams? You need $KIX.
* Want to make Predictions? You need $KIX.
* Want voting power in the DAO? You need to lock $KIX as vlKIX.

## Governance

$KIX is also a governance token. Holders can lock their $KIX to receive **vlKIX** — Vote-Locked KIX — which gives them voting power in the KiX DAO. ## The Market Price

$KIX has a live market price, set entirely by trading activity on external markets — currently [**Kayen Finance**](https://app.kayen.finance) (the primary DEX on Chiliz Chain) and **CoinTR** (a centralised exchange). Both venues show a live, tradeable market price for $KIX.

**KiX does not arbitrarily set the price of $KIX.** The platform has no in-platform purchase mechanism at launch, so the price you see anywhere on KiX simply reflects what $KIX is trading at on these external markets.

## The Token and Platform Activity

Every action that generates fees on the KiX platform flows through $KIX. DAT trades generate commissions denominated in $KIX. Predictions use $KIX. Game Group entries use $KIX. This creates a direct, organic relationship between platform activity and $KIX demand. A thriving KiX creates genuine, ongoing demand for the token — not manufactured demand, not speculation.
